Howard Phillips Lovecraft was an American writer of weird and horror fiction, who is known for his creation of what became the Cthulhu Mythos. Born in Providence, Rhode Island, Lovecraft spent most of his life in New England. He wrote many short stories as well as novellas such as The Case of Charles Dexter Ward.
Many of his works have been made into movies such as Color Out of Space (2020) by Richard Stanley or Dagon (2001) by Stuart Gordon, His influence has carried over to be influences in other films such as Mr. Jones (2014) and John Carpenter’s In the Mouth of Madness (1995). Others have created novels and movies based off his universe such as the novel and the show its based on, Lovecraft Country.
