Director Dan Bush came to prominence in 2007 with his segment of the film, THE SIGNAL, a movie that somewhat a zombie film and somewhat science fiction. The movie itself was a collaboration with two other directors where he helmed one of the three parts. Afterwards, though prolific enough since, nothing was as prominent as that film. Now in 2020, he returns with a movie that is getting a bit of buzz entitled THE DARK RED.
Sybil Warren (April Billingsley) is a troubled woman who’s mother died while she was young and her eventual caregiver tragicly passed as well. Landing in a sanitarium, she discusses with a psychiatrist how a group of cultists had stolen her baby and that there is a mysterious power that they possess. After eventually agreeing her tale is preposterous, she is released and decides to find out the truth.
THE DARK RED was co-written by Dan Bush and Conal Byrne and stars April Billingsley in a strong performance. The movie played for two years on the festival circuit before finally arriving on VOD in 2020 to fairly good reviews. Dark Discussions takes a look at this thriller and gives their thoughts.
