Dark Discussions Podcast once again hits another milestone. As we have done in the past, we set up a Facebook poll where listeners could choose the 450th episode topic. After a grand fight of such films as INVASION OF THE BODY SNATCHER (1978) and SCREAM (1996) among others, the film chosen by fans of the podcast was AN AMERICAN WEREWOLF IN LONDON (1981).
David Kessler (David Naughton) and Jack Goodman (Griffin Dunne) decide to do a hiking trip across Europe. Their first stop is the moors of Northern England where the weather is bad and the hotels are scarce. When they stop at a local pub called the Slaughtered Lamb, they mistakenly insult the local patrons and leave quickly. Unfortunately for them, they have no idea where to go and something dark and evil may be on their tail.
The film was written and directed by John Landis who’s masterpiece ANIMAL HOUSE was only three years earlier. With its dark humor, this latest film skates between black comedy and visceral horror. Besides Naughton and Dunne, the film also stars cult film favorite Jenny Agutter in a pivotal role. Dark Discussions takes a look at this classic film and give their thoughts.
