It is the 550th episode of the Dark Discussions Podcast and as usual, we choose a “tent pole” film to discuss.  Like before, we placed a poll on the Facebook group where anyone could go vote for twelve different films for us to discuss (chosen each by our co-hosts).  With a close down-to-the-wire race, the winner was co-host Mike’s choice – INVASION OF THE BODY SNATCHERS (1978)

When health inspector Matthew’s (Donald Sutherland) co-worker Elizabeth (Brooke Adams) feels her fiancé seems different, the two discover a strange parasitic flower that they feel may be part of the problem.  As they join with their friends, the group begin to piece together things.  And as they work through the mystery, a wave of hysteria seems to sweep across their home city of San Francisco.

Considered a classic and one of the best remakes in film history, the movie brings an all-star cast that includes Donald Sutherland, Jeff Goldblum, Leonard Nimoy, Veronica Cartwright, and Brooke Adams.  Cameos from the original film include Don Siegel (the director of the 1956 movie) and leading man Kevin McCarthy.  The movie is directed by Philip Kaufman and written by W.D.
