With 2012 behind us, the new year is brimming with plenty of upcoming genre films. Science fiction, fantasy, horror, superhero, remakes, sequels, indies, thrillers, re-imaginings and so much more are on the table.
Dark Discussions gives their opinions on the first half of 2013 and what they expect of some of the more anticipated films to come. Remakes include Carrie and the Evil Dead. Sequels to be released are Iron Man 3, Kick Ass 2, Texas Chainsaw 3D, and the Last Exorcism Part 2. Re-imaginings of classics include Sam Raimi’s Oz the Great and Powerful and Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel. Other films comprise the Guillermo del Toro produced Mama, Stephanie Meyer’s The Host, Don Coscarelli’s John Dies at the End, Jet Li’s The Sorcerer and the White Snake, the girl revenge film Black Rock, the thriller Now You See Me, the alien possession film Dark Skies, and the zombie comedy Warm Bodies.
Some other huge budget films come out the first part of the year. They include M. Night Shyamalan’s After Earth, Tom Cruise’s science fiction thriller Oblivion, and J.J. Abrams’ Star Trek Into Darkness. But some potentially good horror films too including Andrew Traucki’s The Jungle and the anthology film The ABC’s of Death are coming. Dark Discussions discusses these and others in this first part of a two part 2013 discussion of some of the most anticipated big budget and smaller genre films to come.
